In no limit Texas Holdem your opponents are attempting to put you on a range of hands to determine whether or not they should hold ’em or fold ’em. If you only raise with premium hands such as ace king your opponents have a much harder time putting you on the hand you are actually holding. Let’s take a look at an example.
Typically you only fold or call pre-flop. Suddenly you wake up with ace king offsuit and raise three times the big blind. Not a huge raise but its enough to scare away most of the players yet to act. Flop comes three eight nine of spades. You hold the King of spades. Your opponent checks it over to you, you follow with a pot sized bet, then he pushes all in. At this point you are left with a decision. Are you ahead with ace high or are you way behind and your opponent has read your hand perfectly?
Let’s say there is 30 chips in the pot and your opponent has made it another 60 to go. Now there are 120 in total. You are definitely ahead. Now you are probably thinking I can outplay this guy I’m in pretty bad shape. 120 to 30 is about a 5 to 1 ratio in your favor. 30 to 120 is about a 2 to 1 in favor. That means if you make a $10 bet on the flop you will win $20 on average if you hit your hand. The odds say you will lose once every 3 times and will only win once in over all ten hands.
That’s the reason why you cannot play ace high every time. It’s easy to get lured by this monster hand. Good players will recognize when you have it and they will re-raise you with pretty much any two cards or almost any hand. If you aren’t careful and exceptional your opponents will catching on the hand as well.
If you are new to cash games I would start off playing on free tables first or low stakes games. At the low limits especially many of the players play a straightforward style of play with less range into their hands. They will call you without replying much to your raises, if you have any sense of a hand then you could try a check raise in late position to attempt to isolate the play between the two players. If you really do not like your hand at this stage I would fold.
This is also a great strategy to start off using. You will find you are immediately gaining a better understanding of the game. Cash games are different to tournament play in that the dynamics change when you get into heads up play. You cannot play the same as in tournament play without going for the gold. Every tournament different. Playing AA, KK, QQ, AK and so can be completely opposite to playing AA, KK, QQ in heads up play. Different strategies learn at different rates. If you are a Sit and Go lover and do not like keeping many tables open at the same time, you might want to start testing out low limit heads up games first before moving up to higher limit ones.
If you win a lot I strongly suggest getting out of the habit of playing your cards the same way at every hand. You have to mix it up and try various methods of attempting to put your opponents on a range of hands. You will have to spend some time trying out new techniques and if you happen to go through a bad patch, be prepared to drop your laying down some very strict rules and only play double barrel bluffs for a while, if you really want to be a serious Sit and Go player.
There is a lot of money to be made in online DewaGG, if you have the right guide to show you have what it takes to make a living playing online poker, you can start to see a beneficial side benefit of playing online. However you have to remember to only use methods of playing that are legal and respected online, you cannot play under the influence or force yourself to play. It is also a very good idea to use some sort of timing device to keep your game in order. Timing devices are Those devices that allow you to set a reminder on a certain hand to play. For example you call your TV while fishing and the timer goes off at the exact same time you raise. That way you avoid the suspicion of the security Services because it looks like you are trying to scam them for money.
I will suggest here that you avoid playing in games that have low cards. Your odds of winning are much lower in such cases.
